Many of us have experienced the redness and itching that comes when a mosquito bites. It’s no wonder you can’t have a barbeque picnic in your backyard. But no worries because we’ll help you get rid of those mosquitos once and for all by sharing with you some important tips. You don’t even have to go to the store to get insect repellents in order to get rid of these nasty mosquitoes. Some of these methods are absolutely natural and have been proven to work. So here are 8 simple ways to get rid of mosquitoes in your home.

1.     Apply drop of lavender in specific areas in your home because it acts as a natural repellent. You can apply lavender on the areas around your open windows especially the ones that are close to the backyard. You can even purchase body oil made with lavender to stop mosquitoes from landing on your skin.

2.     There’s also sunscreen that is available in the stores produced to act as a mosquito repellent and still protect you from those harmful rays of the sun. You can purchase this sunscreen and apply it whenever you are outdoors.

3.     Get rid of stagnant water around your home because it attracts mosquitoes. Stagnant water is simply a breeding ground for mosquitoes. This includes puddles of water in your backyard or water that has accumulated inside the pet bowls. Also make sure that your gutters are completely dry and empty after it rains. If you have garden items in the backyard, make sure they don’t collect any water after it rains.

4.     The other option could be buying a mosquito trap and placing it in strategic positions around your home. The trap is usually made using carbon dioxide to trap mosquitoes.

5.     The other great alternative is to use fans which get rid of mosquitoes because the air flow keeps them away. However, fans are best used in small areas like a deck where you can set up one around your guests whenever they come and run it to keep mosquitoes away. But make sure you set the fan low.
6.     Eating lots of garlic can also help to repel mosquitoes. When you eat lots of garlic, oils are released from the pores of your skin which act as a barrier between your skin and mosquitoes. However, the smell of garlic is unpleasant to most people so keep this in mind too.

7.     Neem oil is also a great vegetable oil that acts as a good natural mosquito repellant. Neem oil has been used in producing lots of cosmetic products and also as a natural insecticide. Just apply it on your skin and the mosquitoes will stay away.

If you are preparing a barbeque, one powerful ingredient that would keep mosquitoes away is rosemary. It acts as a natural mosquito repellant when you add it to flavor your food. You won’t have to deal with the nasty flies that surround your food because the repelling aroma of rosemary will keep them away.
